**for ceramic coverings
- The specifications refer to a standard mixing vessel with a net capacity of 200 litres and a filling quantity of approx. 320 kg screed sand.
- The strength class depends on the quality of the screed sand used.
- The specification ‘after the X. Day’ does not include the day of installation.
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
- Fill the screed machine about half full with sand and the total amount of cement.
- Pour the required quantity of component agent and Retanol® into the first mixing water and stir with a small whisk.
- Gradually add the required amount of residual water until a stiff-plastic consistency is achieved.
- Ensure a post-mixing time of 2 minutes to ensure homogeneous mixing of the components. This is just as necessary for Agent to function as shaking the Retanol® canister.
SAND, WATER, CEMENT
- The starting materials and Retanol® dosage can be found in the respective product data sheet.
- W/C value: Min. 0,5 max. 0,6
PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS
- Working time: Please refer to the product data sheet
- Outside temperature: +5 °C to +28 °C for screed, environment and substrate
- Do not mix with other screed additives
- Never reactivate screed that has already set with water
Airing
- If the air humidity is 55 % or higher, ventilate 3-4 times a day for 20-30 minutes 24 hours after screed installation in order to achieve readiness for covering.
- If the humidity is below 55%, contact PCT technical support to avoid cupping etc.
CM MEASUREMENT, PRODUCT FEATURES AND POINT LOADS INFORMATIONS
Protective instructions during and after installation
- We recommend our PROTEC-ES/SP product to protect against drying out too quickly, depending on the floor covering. We recommend consulting the PCT technical support team.
- Protect the screed against rapid drying of the surface due to draughts, sunlight and low humidity.
- Large window fronts and floor-level glass façade areas should be darkened if necessary.
- Cover screeds in outdoor areas or enclose areas to be covered. Contact PCT technical support if screed is to be laid outdoors.
Special notes
- Installation by certified specialist companies only.
- The screed must be protected from draughts and direct sunlight during installation and the drying period.
- Plan edge insulation strips at least 10 mm thick and apply additional edge strips to sharp-edged corners, door reveals and passages.
For heated screeds and screeds subject to thermal stress, arrange expansion joints in the transition areas of floor covering changes across the entire cross-section of the screed.
EXECUTION OF THE DAILY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS- Day joints must be clean and straight through construction joints.
- Joint plugs (screed anchors) must be inserted into the construction joints in the upper third of the screed layer at a maximum distance of 30 cm.
- Rapid drying must be prevented over the entire length of the day joints by covering them with foil.
The vertical flanks of the day joints must not be treated with PROTEC-ES/SP.
WORKING ON THE DAILY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS- After working on a day end, a trowel cut must be made between the day end and the connection.
- The depth of the cut should be about one third of the screed thickness, the width approx. 3 mm.
The use of our Retopox® casting resin is recommended for the force-fit fixing of this construction joint.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS DURING AND AFTER INSTALLATION- To protect against drying out too quickly, we recommend our product Protec ES/SP, depending on the floor covering.
- For professional advice on the application of Protec ES/SP, please consult PCT technical support.
AREAS OF APPLICATION
- For all screeds according DIN 18560, part 1–7/BS 8204*
- Particularly suitable for low-shrinkage and joint-reduced screeds
- Screeds indoors and outdoors and in permanently wet areas
*UK only
MAXIMUM FIELD SIZES
- FS1: 400 m² for unheated floating screeds and screeds on a separating layer, 200 m² for heated screeds (Retanol®, Retanol® Reducer 48).
- FG2: 500 m² for unheated floating screeds and screeds on a separating layer, 250 m² for heated screeds (Retanol® Xtreme, Retanol® Xtreme/Xthinn NeaTherm, Retanol® Indestra 100/Pro Concentrate).
- For long or narrow areas (e.g. corridors), do not exceed the width/length ratio of 1:10.
