RETANOL® XTHINN NEATHERM

Retanol® Xthinn NeaTherm

With guaranteed very high early and final strengths of C40 N/mm² , Retanol® Xthinn Neatherm is a thin layer, low shrinkage cement screed for use over underfloor heating. Retanol® Xthinn Neatherm requires only 20 mm coverage on top of the pipe and can be installed at 30 mm overall thickness. Tile floor finishes can be installed after 2 days and all other floor finishes after 3 days (or after 6 days over heated screeds) thus ensuring rapid construction progress, and this thin layer screed reduces the weight per metre2 by more than 50%.

DOSAGE

Compressive strengthCT-C40-F6
Dosage400 ml
Cement quantity62,5 kg
Commisioning cycle5 days

  *with underfloor heating/bubble slab
**for ceramic coverings

  • Do not exceed the maximum dosage of 500 ml.
  • The specifications refer to a standard mixing vessel with a net capacity of 200 litres and a filling quantity of approx. 320 kg screed sand.
  • The strength class depends on the quality of the screed sand used.
  • The specification ‘after the X. Day’ does not include the day of installation.
  • The specification ‘after x hours’ begins after the last square metre of screed has been laid.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Shake the container well to mix the Retanol® Xthinn NeaTherm additive to a consistent colour before use, and then shake as required throughout the installation to maintain the consistency of the liquid (every 30 mins).
  2. Fill half of mixing vessel with 0-4 mm screeding sand and required cement.
  3. Add Retanol® Xthinn NeaTherm to the first mixing water (usually 5-10 litres), then fill the machine completely.
  4. Gradually add the required amount of residual water until a stiff-plastic consistency is achieved.
  5. Let the screed mix for a full 2 minutes.

SAND, WATER, CEMENT

  • Grading curve: Sand must be according to DIN 1045-2 A/B / BS 13139*,
for the production of screed concrete,
0-4 mm: for a pipe cover min of 20 mm
  • W/C value:       Min 0,4, max. 0,6
  • Cement:            Use of cement grade 42.5 R/N according to PCT cement release list

*UK only

PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Working time: 45 minutes
  • Finishing time: 60 minutes
  • Outside temperature: +5 °C to +28 °C for screed, environment and substrate
  • Do not mix with other screed additives
  • Never reactivate screed that has already set with water

Airing

  • If the air humidity is 55 % or higher, ventilate 3-4 times a day for 20-30 minutes 24 hours after screed installation in order to achieve readiness for covering.
  • If the humidity is below 55%, contact PCT technical support to avoid cupping etc.

CM MEASUREMENT

  • A Retanol® screed is considered a proprietary screed within its first 56 days after installation , it can not be tested with a RH test, it must be tested with a calcium carbide method before covering. Can be tested and approved by PCT Chemie in regard of rest mouisture by PCT Chemie in form of a CM measurement.
  • The CM measurement, including the issuing of a guarantee declaration and the assumption of the warranty, can be ordered free of charge from PCT Chemie during this period by the Retanol® specialist company, floor layers, tilers or the client. Further information on the release of the screed can be found on our homepage under ‘Guarantee’ (EU only).
  • After 56 days, the Retanol® screed is assessed according to the standard values of DIN 18560/BS-8203*.

*UK only

Protective instructions during and after installation

  • We recommend our PROTEC-ES/SP product to protect against drying out too quickly, depending on the floor covering. We recommend consulting the PCT technical support team.
  • Protect the screed against rapid drying of the surface due to draughts, sunlight and low humidity.
  • Large window fronts and floor-level glass façade areas should be darkened if necessary.
  • Cover screeds in outdoor areas or enclose areas to be covered. Contact PCT technical support if screed is to be laid outdoors.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Installation only by trained and approved applicators
  • Insulation material compressibility ≤ 2 mm
  • Insulation thickness maximum 80 mm
  • Thin-layer screed systems influence the natural resonance behaviour
  • The installation of wooden floor coverings, especially solid wood, only after consultation with the PCT technical support team
