A guarantee refers to services that go beyond a warranty. The independent declaration of guarantee is again not subject to any conditions such as third-party approval and comes into force at the time of issue. In the case of the independent declaration of guarantee, this is a guarantee covering residual moisture for ten years.

In a manufacturer's warranty, the manufacturer of a system declares that it confirms the functionality of the system by providing a warranty for any damage caused by a lack of functionality. The manufacturer is generally liable for five years. This manufacturer's warranty is covered by the independent declaration of guarantee.

The standards from DIN are supplemented and enhanced by the data sheets of associations and organisations such as the Federal Association for Screed and Flooring (BEB). These are the so-called recognised rules of the trade. In addition to this, the state of the art through systems that have been scientifically confirmed and tested in practice is another way of confirming the functionality of systems. In the example of the Retanol® screed system, the proven positive influence of RETANOL® on the hydration process and the more than 200 million square metres confirm that the system is state of the art.

The German Institute for Standardisation (DIN) sets standards that ensure the minimum level of quality that is to be achieved. DIN 18560 regulates all standards for screed.
